Derek Daly is a member of SPMJ, and his multifaceted career as a television journalist, F1 driver, IndyCar driver, motivational speaker, and an Irishman is truly inspiring. His Irish heritage is integral to his identity, often adding an authentic touch to his speech.

His journey through European motor sports was nothing short of remarkable, starting with Formula Ford, moving to F2, and then to the prestigious F1 from before transitioning to IndyCar (CART). Among the heartwarming stories from his IndyCar days, Derek once took my daughter to a Daddy-Daughter dance when I  could not attend, showcasing his compassionate nature and willingness to support others.

Upon joining ESPN, Derek dedicated himself to thoroughly preparing for his new role, leveraging not only his driving experience but also advocating for innovative broadcasting improvements such as showing time instead of speed at road races.

A testament to his resilience, Derek endured a severe crash during a CART race at Michigan Speedway. Despite spending several weeks in the hospital, his determination saw him return to the track as a competitive driver, inspiring many with his recovery and fighting spirit.

Post-retirement, Derek pivoted towards motivational speaking, crafting presentations that embody the drive to win, and authored two insightful books with Octane: "A Champion's Path" and "Race to Win". His motto, "A better you makes a better us," resonates deeply with his philosophy, encouraging personal growth for collective success.
