In A Blow To Motorsports, AP Changes How It Covers Auto Racing

The media landscape is changing, and this time, its hitting the sport we love and cover a bit harder.

Yesterday in a blog post, long-time motorsports journalist Jenna Fryer said she accepted a buyout from the AP, as they are changing the way they will be covering motorsports.

What that means is a mystery, but from this observer (and someone who's health insurance job comes from a company pushing a genuinely human approach), it could mean that the company hires local talent that won't know the ins and outs like someone who travels with the series on a regular basis.

We need more writers like Jenna, who was with the AP for around 30 years, not less, to tell the stories of the drivers. Not just write what the series publishes from the PR team.

The landscape is changing, we as members need to do more to adapt and overcome to keep telling the stories from the paddock and garage.
