Barnhart, Sagan move from Arrow McLaren to RLL
Brian Barnhart and Kyle Sagan have left Arrow McLaren to join Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Barnhart, the former IndyCar executive who worked under fellow former IndyCar president Jay Frye before departing to work for Harding Racing, Andretti Global, and Arrow McLaren most recently as its general manager, reunites with Frye at RLL and has been named the team’s Senior VP of Operations.
Barnhart will also serve as Graham Rahal’s race strategist on the No. 15 Honda as RLL looks to improve its competitive standing in the IndyCar Series.
Along with Barnhart, the Arrow McLaren team also lost Sagan, who will act as RLL’s Pit Stop Manager.
After winning the 2023 IndyCar championship with Chip Ganassi Racing on Alex Palou’s No. 10 Honda entry, the veteran mechanic was recruited by Arrow McLaren to improve its pit stops in a newly-created position and was a significant influence in Arrow McLaren’s rise up the pit stop rankings.
RLL has the returning Rahal and its new Rookie of the Year in Louis Foster to lead the three-car program. RLL tested ex-Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher in October as the first step in evaluating upgrades to its third entry which has routinely underperformed since its full-time presence was established in 2022.
